About this product
Alien Labs' Permanent Shade is a premium indoor-grown indica flower presented in large, hand-selected buds — a format prized by connoisseurs who want to inspect quality before breaking it down. Cultivated under controlled lighting cycles that mimic the plant's natural finish, this offering from one of California's most respected cannabis brands is available now at ZenZest's licensed New York locations.
What it is
Permanent Shade is a whole-flower indica product from Alien Labs, packaged as large bud — meaning the buds have been carefully selected post-trim for size, density, and visual integrity rather than broken down into smaller mixed cuts. Indica-dominant flower is broadly associated with a heavier, more physically grounding character compared to sativa-leaning varieties, making it a popular choice for evening sessions or moments of deliberate unwinding. As a smoked or vaporized flower format, large bud offers the most direct engagement with the plant's aromatic profile. Because the trichome-rich surface of the bud remains intact until the consumer breaks it down themselves, the volatile compounds responsible for aroma and effect are better preserved from packaging to bowl.
Why this matters at ZenZest
Purchasing Alien Labs flower through a New York OCM-licensed retailer like ZenZest means every unit has passed mandatory third-party laboratory testing for potency, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants — requirements that unregulated or out-of-state gray-market sources simply cannot guarantee. Alien Labs operates with a documented cultivation and quality-assurance process, and ZenZest's buying team vets brand partnerships before products reach the shelf. Shoppers at ZenZest's Queens–Long Island or Staten Island flagship stores, or those ordering via same-day delivery across 80-plus New York ZIP codes, receive product with a verified, unbroken chain of custody.
Pairings
Large indica bud suits a slower, more intentional evening. Pair a session with a curated low-tempo playlist — think atmospheric soul, ambient electronic, or late-night jazz — and a meal that rewards attentiveness: a rich pasta, braised short rib, or an umami-forward ramen. For complementary formats within the same session, a ceramic or glass pipe preserves terpene character better than rolling papers for the first taste. If you enjoy the strain, Alien Labs' own vape cartridges or pre-rolls in related cultivars make logical companion purchases.
If it's your first time
If indica flower is new to you, start low and go slow — pack a small amount, take one or two draws, and allow at least fifteen to twenty minutes before assessing how you feel. Large bud requires a grinder before it can be loaded into a pipe or rolled; ZenZest staff can recommend the right accessories. The heavier, more relaxing character of indica-leaning flower means a couch-ready setting is generally wiser than a busy social environment for a first experience.
Frequently asked
What makes Alien Labs Permanent Shade 'large bud' different from standard flower?+
Large bud designates a size-graded selection where each bud has been hand-sorted to meet a minimum size threshold after trimming. This preserves more of the flower's external trichome layer and gives consumers a clearer view of the cultivar's structure and color before breaking it down. It is generally considered a premium cut within a brand's flower lineup.
Is Permanent Shade available for same-day delivery in New York?+
ZenZest offers same-day delivery to more than 80 New York ZIP codes, including areas across Queens, Long Island, and Staten Island. Availability of specific SKUs like Alien Labs Permanent Shade depends on current inventory, so checking the live product page or contacting the store directly is the most reliable way to confirm before placing an order.
How should I store large bud flower to keep it fresh?+
Store your flower in an airtight, opaque container at room temperature, away from direct light and humidity fluctuations. A glass jar with a humidity control pack rated around 58–62 percent relative humidity is widely considered the best option for preserving aroma and moisture content over time. Avoid refrigerators, which can introduce condensation and degrade trichomes.
Does ZenZest carry other Alien Labs products besides Permanent Shade flower?+
Alien Labs produces a range of formats including pre-rolls, vape cartridges, and additional flower cultivars. ZenZest's inventory rotates based on OCM-licensed wholesale availability in New York. The current catalog is reflected in the live product listings on the ZenZest site, and in-store staff can advise on what Alien Labs SKUs are in stock at any given time.
What does indica mean, and will Permanent Shade make me feel sleepy?+
Indica is a broad botanical classification that, in retail cannabis culture, is loosely associated with more physically relaxing, body-centered effects compared to sativa varieties. Individual experience varies significantly based on personal tolerance, consumption method, and quantity. No specific effect can be guaranteed for any given consumer. New users are always advised to start with a small amount and wait before consuming more.
